Luca Paschina
Barboursville’s Estate Director and winemaker since 1990, Luca Paschina of Piemonte, Italy a third generation winemaker holds the most diverse and extensive record of honors among all his peers in Virginia.
Third-generation winemaker from Piemonte, Italy. Luca Paschina made his first Nebbiolo at age 14. Produces Virginia’s most acclaimed expressions of Italian varietal wines. His signature red blend, Octagon, which was recently chosen as a Top 20 Merlot in the world and as a Top 50 Wine in the U.S by the esteemed British authority, Decanter Magazine, symbolizing the harmony of Virginia history, Italian craftsmanship, and timeless elegance.
Barboursville’s Nascent White Blend 2020 was named to the Nation’s Top 100 by James Suckling and Vermentino has become Virginia’s most celebrated white wine—Winner of the 2025 Governor’s Cup, and a record eight-time selection in the Governor’s Case (Top 12 Wines of Virginia).
Vineyard & Winery Management magazine named Luca Paschina among the 20 Most Admired Winemakers in North America (Nov-Dec, 2014).
