Bluemont Vineyard

Bluemont Vineyard is a family-owned winery perched along the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Bluemont. Established in 2007 by the Zurschmeide family, the winery has become a cornerstone of Virginia wine country, known for its panoramic views overlooking Loudoun Valley and its commitment to estate-grown wines.

The vineyard spans roughly 50 acres planted with classic Vitis vinifera varieties including Viognier, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Bluemont Vineyard focuses on expressing the unique terroir of the region—rocky soils, elevation, and a dynamic climate—through balanced, food-friendly wines. Their Viognier and red blends, in particular, have gained recognition for showcasing Virginia’s potential for both aromatic whites and structured reds.

In addition to its winemaking program, Bluemont has cultivated a strong reputation as a destination. The tasting room and terrace offer sweeping views, drawing visitors year-round for tastings, seasonal events, and live music. The winery emphasizes hospitality and accessibility, creating an environment where both casual guests and serious wine enthusiasts can engage with Virginia wine.

Bluemont Vineyard is part of a broader agricultural and tourism movement in Loudoun County, contributing to the region’s emergence as a premier East Coast wine destination. By combining thoughtful viticulture, skilled winemaking, and a strong sense of place, Bluemont continues to play a key role in shaping the identity and growth of Virginia’s modern wine industry.
