Michael Shaps Winery
Founded in 2007, Michael Shaps Winery is located twelve miles south of Charlottesville, Virginia in the award-winning Monticello AVA. Within the first year of opening, we developed Virginia's first contract winemaking operation. The customer base grew to over twenty wineries and became a regional leader. The oldest operating vineyard, Shenandoah Vineyards, was purchased in 2018. Most of our fruit is sourced from 40 acres at Honah Lee. In the summer of 2022, MSW purchased the neighboring 60 acres (formerly Thatch Winery) with seven acres of vineyards. This beautiful property offers a spacious tasting room with expansive outdoor seating areas, manicured landscaping, and much-needed space for our growing operation.
