Revalation Vineyards

Revalation Vineyards is a boutique winery located in the heart of Madison’s spectacular Hebron Valley, just two miles off Route 29. All wines are produced with grapes from our vineyards in Reva and Hebron Valley. They cover about 9 acres of white vinifera (Pinot Gris, Petit Manseng, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Albariño), 8 acres of red vinifera (Merlot, Tannat, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon) and 2 acres of hybrid vines (Vidal Blanc). The current offerings include 5 white and 5 red wines as well as 2 rosé wines. Françoise and Julian are particularly proud of their signature wines: Zeus (a méthode Champenoise sparkling), Hera (a carbonated sparkling), Novum (a white port-style wine) and Haywood (an orange wine).

In the tasting room, in addition to our wines, we sell verjus also made from our grapes – usually Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. Verjus is a non-alcoholic, unfermented juice produced by pressing unripe grapes. The light acidity formed by the lower sugar content allows the juice to have a fresh, tart flavor that adds zest to sauces, dressings and marinades, without overpowering other delicate aromas in the dish. The subtle versatility of this juice makes it an ideal mixer for fresh-tasting cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks.

Revalation has grown significantly since experimenting with grape growing in just one acre of our backyard in 2006, but the thrill of watching our own vines bring forth new fruit has not changed. In our wines, we look for an expression of our Central Virginia terroir. The combination of lots of sunshine, plenty of rain and wonderful soil has the potential to produce outstanding grapes to be turned into delicious wines.
